Ellatric, the stage name for a Kate McLaughlin ,grew up in Vermont, where she began playing guitar, influenced by Neil Young, Cat Stevens and Carole King. She has been a Montana resident for 20 plus years but has been quiet in the music scene.
Her music is indie alternative in the likes of Bon Iver, and Imogen Heap with a soulful sound like Emeli Sande’ and Kate Bush. Ellatric has an eclectic, contemplative , folktronic sound. She combines organic instruments with electronic elements from her laptop and midi instruments.
Ellatric’s unique sound is organic musicality that creates an overall evocative, emotionally honest sound that captures the complexities of human emotion. Ellatric’s memorable melodies and vocals transfix audiences.

Combining her passion for music and songwriting, she wrote a book, “Songwriting Simplified” to share tools and methods for writing songs with emotion. She has taught her songwriting methods as workshops in high schools.
